About us — What we do

Aptus Control Systems, Inc. is a full service control systems integration firm. Aptus supports SCADA and other industrial control systems throughout their lifecycle, including design, installation and commissioning, troubleshooting and repair, system modifications, and optimization. Aptus works with most major PLC and HMI manufacturers and specializes in water treatment (Water/Wastewater, Industrial Wastewater, Environmental Remediation, and Water Resources).

We enjoy solving our customers’ most difficult problems such as:

Let us help you with your biggest control and operational challenges.
X

  • Repair of Remediation system controls in New Jersey. System was abandoned by original integrator and never worked as designed. Identified numerous issues including the misapplication of Hexadecimal and Binary Coded Decimal data types which resulted in erratic and unpredictable timer operation.
  • Remedy of Water Plant erratic filter level control. Previous integrator had spent tens of thousands of dollars on new hardware which did not resolve the issue and which was not necessary. Aptus altered the level control algorithm and remedied the issue after a single site visit (site visit was preceded by remote reviewing of the existing code). Total cost was a fraction of that spent to replace a single valve actuator and four were replaced prior to our involvement.
  • Monitoring and data collection to track performance of R&D plasma field treatment technology.
  • Applied R&D Control System design, and implementation for novel energetic materials remediation system. Project presented a number of instrumentation selection related challenges as well as unique control algorithms.
  • Applied R&D Control System design and implementation for energetic materials destruction at sea/in situ. In addition to the inherent issues of working with energetic materials, there were challenges associated with being at sea, cooling and corrosion protection related issues in particular required a novel approach. Also system needed to be remotely accessible and supportable from land based operations as control personnel were not permitted on board during operation.
  • Control of stream flow (downstream of dam) to ensure proper flow conditions in support of endangered fish. Flow control needed to be adaptable to handle wide seasonal swings and still ensure permit conditions were always met.
  • Experience with multiple applied R&D ozone remediation system control systems. Both in situ with field injection, as well as pump and treat employing reactor technologies. Ozone presents particular challenges for materials of construction for instrumentation in particular and requires careful selection thereof.
  • Control system upgrade of plant lacking any wiring diagrams. Project involved over a dozen control panels, remote telemetry to a number of panels in the field, challenges associated with small tank volumes and high flow rates as well as ongoing use of dated control valves whose operation was somewhat irregular due to age and wear.
  • Aptus has limited resources and numerous clients, so we do not guarantee 24 x 7 support; however, whenever we reasonably can we strive to support our clients.
